- The Atomic Backland 89 SL is lightweight and efficient on the way up, and reliable and stable with great flotation on the down. The result of a scientific life cycle assessment, the use of more poplar wood, less fiberglass and resin, and waste-reducing sidewalls significantly reduces material-based CO2 equivalent emissions by 30% (compared with the Backland 85, 2021). HRZN 3D increases surface area for better float in powder and improved handling in variable conditions. All-Terrain Profile uses a natural-wood-to-fiberglass ratio to create a ski shape that enhances climbing and optimizes downhill performance. A Carbon Backbone adds stiffness while the poplar/caruba woodcore keeps the ski lightweight and nimble. All Mountain Rocker and a wider 89mm profile allow for total adaptability on any type of terrain. <span itemprop="description">I’ve been using the Atomic Backland 89 SL skis for three seasons now, and they’ve proven to be incredibly versatile.
They’re lightweight enough for easy uphill climbs, even on regular resort tours, but still feel stable and reliable on the way down.
What I really like is that they handle a variety of conditions really well – from groomed slopes to off-piste terrain – so I can take them almost anywhere without overthinking it.
Overall, I’ve been really happy with them. They strike a great balance between weight and performance, which makes them a perfect all-around touring ski.</span>
