Life Lessons From Lucas Pinheiro Braathen

Unique. Vibrant. Eccentric. Diverse. Hyper-social. The next big thing. All these are attributes used to describe Lucas Braathen, Slalom World Cup winner of the recent season. But, above all, he is just himself, and he underlines that in every single episode of our “Pinheiro” series. We have summarized the most striking messages of one of the most iconic alpine racers of all time.

The tough part about the lifestyle I’ve chosen is that obviously the people that mean the most to you are probably the people that you spend the least time with.

I often find the most important lessons to be taught outside of my own path: It’s certain lessons that can’t be taught between red and blue gates on the hill.

They [my friends in arts and music] have all got perspectives and lessons learned that I haven’t. So I try to listen to everyone and pick everything that I agree with or things that I find clever and then I try to adapt it into my own situation.

We are all different. And different is scary.

I wanna have a legacy where I am remembered as just being me. That’s the biggest goal I’ve got.
Lucas Braathen

I wanna have a legacy where I am remembered as just being me. That’s the biggest goal I’ve got.

When you hear that first beeps, that’s when shit gets intense.

When you cross the finish line, it’s all done. And whether that result is making you the winner of the day or the loser of the day – there is nothing you can do about it. A crazy amount of emotions coming in at once. Such a pure, raw and unique feeling. That’s what gets you going. That’s what makes you do all the sacrifices to be able to experience that feeling again. That’s why skiing is a form of art for me.

We have all got this canvas that we are writing our own path on. And I wanna take all those experiences into my routines, into my work, into my approach and I am really excited to see how that will pay off.

Trying to be best in something isn’t always comfortable.

I singned up for a journey that allows me to be happy along the way and that allows me to taste that success and reward that I get from that hard work.

Remember that: At the end of the day, I don’t ski for the leader board, I ski for the moments and just have fun out there.

Every lessonlearned shapes you in a new way, whether it’s a lesson learned from success or a lesson learned from failure.
