About Mauro
Mauro Caviezel was at the start of a World Cup race for the first time in 2008. At the 2017 World Championships in St. Moritz, Caviezel surprisingly won the bronze medal in the combined. His first World Cup podium finish followed in March 2017 with third place in the Super-G in Aspen. In the 2018/19 World Cup season, he definitely made the breakthrough to the top of the world. He achieved five more podiums and various top-10 finishes. He finished the season in third place in both the super-G and combined rankings. Caviezel celebrated his greatest success to date in the 2019/20 World Cup season by winning the Super-G discipline classification. During Super-G training in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, he came to a heavy fall. In the process, Caviezel suffered a severe concussion. He made his comeback in the 2022/23 season. In his second race appearance, the Super-G of Lake Louise, he crashed at the end of November 2022. He then announced his retirement from competitive skiing.
