We are skiers. We are sisters and mothers, nurses and teachers, managers and engineers. We are young and old. We ski big mountains and small ones. We race through slalom gates, we plunge into deep powder, and we break trail on the skin track. We are part of a worldwide community of women who love skiing and are united by the feeling of cold, fresh winter wind on our faces.
We are inspired by the women around us, like three-time Overall World Cup Champion, Mikaela Shiffrin, who skis for the confidence it gives her, both on and off the mountain. We are motivated by Marlies Raich, mother of three and Austrian World Cup legend, who lets go of life’s expectations and skis for herself. We are courageous like Freeride World Champion, Arianna Tricomi, who loves feeling like she never has to grow old when she steps into her skis and makes a turn.
At our core, we are strong women. We ski hard. We fall. We ski smoothly, slow, and fast. We ski to connect with nature, to reach new goals, to bond with community, to set our spirits free. We celebrate the extraordinary moments of every run, the crashes, the near misses, the chairlift rides, the alpine picnics, the scenery and the magic of the mountains themselves – this is why we keep skiing.
And with that we accept the wrinkles, the smile lines, the scars and blemishes that tell our stories as skiers, as humans who have found their hearts, confidence, and life’s meaning in the snow. There is no right or wrong way to paint lines down the mountain, and so many reasons why we ski.
