Pipeline Project is Atomic’s first-ever junior development Freeski Program. This program spans across North America and is comprised of thirteen athletes in the United States and four athletes in Canada, with ages ranging from 11-17 years old. Pipeline Project will be a holistic sport development program where we will provide equipment as well as tools that each of the athletes can use to further their skiing skills and careers. In addition, Atomic will be holding monthly workshops and calls that will add value to the athletes’ ski aspirations, mental health, and physical well-being.
The athletes are fired up about the program. We asked each of them what they are hoping to get out of the Pipeline Project, and here is what some of them said:
Cooper Watson, a 17-year-old out of Grand Targhee states, “I hope to meet more people with the same passions as me and look forward to more opportunities in the backcountry. I get the opportunity to represent Atomic in a positive manner and have fun on the mountain. Being on the Atomic team will help me be an advocate for the sport and spread the stoke of skiing to others.”
Kennedy Cochenour, a 15-year-old out of Big Sky, Montana states, “I hope to connect with other Atomic athletes to help me learn and grow as young, female free rider, and obviously continue to shred on my favorite skis -- the Bent Chetlers!”
Duke Woodman, an 11-year-old out of California states, “I really like Atomic’s equipment, the brand and I want be a part of representing that and helping them in any way I can. I also want to ski with other really good skiers and make new friends and see what I can learn from everybody else.”
Lastly, Fergus Hayes, a 12-year-old out of British Columbia writes, “I hope to learn a lot from awesome Atomic athletes and be able to take that experience to my skiing and also share my experience with my friends and club. I think being a young skier having the mentoring will be awesome on how to progress my skiing and help me look to the future on where I want to head in the sport and how to get there.” Not only is it amazing for us to see their enthusiasm to meet and learn from other skiers, but their love for Atomic and our equipment is second to none!
From Slopestyle to Big Mountain Heli-Skiing, this creative and talented bunch has their eyes set on some big goals this upcoming season!
