FOR SKIERS, BY SKIERS
Atomic is based in the heart of the Austrian Alps where skiing is an essential part of people’s lifestyle. “Basically everyone at Atomic is a skier so we are extremely critical with every piece of equipment we use. Skis and boots are important for sure, but your helmet and goggle can also make or break a day. Because when you see better, you can ski better,” says Peter Wirthenstätter, Business Unit Manager for protective gear in Altenmarkt. “As super passionate skiers ourselves we know exactly what makes a good helmet or goggle for skiing. And with our product expertise and Atomic’s development capabilities we can turn this insight into innovation and make some of the best protective skiing gear out there.”
DESIGNED AND DEVELOPED IN AUSTRIA
There’s a small team of experienced and talented experts in-house: a specialized designer and a developer plus two dedicated product managers work hand in hand with Peter. Together they manage the entire range of goggles, helmets, poles, body protectors and bags right out of Altenmarkt – from early idea to final product. “Any new product starts with a big idea, and that can come from any of us; from our own skiing experiences as well as from conversations we have with our athletes or retailers worldwide.”
With many ski areas within short reach of Atomic’s headquarters in Altenmarkt, on-snow product testing happens all year long too. “Every member of the protectives team gets out on snow to personally test and validate new products,” Peter affirms.
