The ladies have already started their season in Sölden, but the men’s opening was postponed until Levi as their race was cancelled due to bad weather. After a bit of a defensive 1st run Mikaela Shiffrin came in in 2nd place. After her magnificent performance in training runs she was less than happy about her run. Although, or maybe because of this, most experts expected her to win. In the end she only managed 5th place. Disappointed? ”I know which mistake cost me precious time. And I know that I’m fast: my skiing just needs to adjust to the material’s performance, then everything will be fine”, as the World Cup winner quickly put the race behind her again in the Atomic Facebook Livestream. Redster colleague Sofia Goggia also had to do this after she failed to complete her 1st run, whilst the Japanese skier Ando Asa ticked off her first six World Cup points. Special hats off to her that she managed to do this in Sölden’s difficult giant slalom.
