„I had the best preparation of my whole career and I am equipped with the best material ever. I am ready“, said Nordic sprinter Sondre Turvoll Fossli right before the start of the first World Cup Race in Ruka. The upcoming 22-year old Atomic youngster was replacing his teammate Ola Vigen Hattestad in the lineup of the Norwegian Sprint-Team in Finland. The Olympic Champion in the individual sprint event at Sochi made a last-minute trip joining his pregnant wife in the delivery room. Sondre took the chance and racked up his first victory in the first race of the season.
PACEMAKER FOSSLI MAKES MOVE ON THE LAST CLIMB
The three-time junior world-champion gave evidence that he got the genes of a champion. In the grand final it was Fossli who was setting the pace from the very beginning.
Pumped up with confidence he made the decisive move on the last challenging climb to leave all the top stars behind. „I really like that last climb close before the finish line“, smiled Fossli in his first interview as a World Cup champion. „Last year I also felt very comfortable on that part of the track. With the new Redster equipment I could lift my performance to a new level.“
