As an integral part of the freeski scene since its inception, Henrik Windstedt not only helped shape the sport during its infancy, he is one of a handful of freeskiers that successfully transitioned into the big mountain realm to influence the progression of freeriding as well. Henrik’s wealth of experience and influence will be a massive asset to Atomic.

From park, pipe and urban skiing to backcountry-freestyle and big mountain skiing; Henrik Windstedt has done it all during his expansive freeski career. Not only has he competed on the biggest stages of both park and freeride competitions, Henrik did it all while filming jaw-dropping film segments with the most respected production companies. Skiers still actively pushing the boundaries of the sport that can look back at such well-rounded and successful ski careers, are few and far between which is why Windstedt is still the most well-known Scandinavian freerider—although Henrik would never claim this himself.

“I am a big fan of Atomic equipment, you can definitely feel the ‘from skier-to-skier’ approach.”

HENRIK WINDSTEDT

The soft-spoken, easy going Swede has always carried an air of humility; never boisterously claiming his achievements, but rather focusing on the next success and always progressing his skiing along the way. With roots in competitive mogul skiing, Henrik learnt solid ski technique at an early age, yet quickly transitioned into park skiing and developed into one of the first big stars of the emerging freeski scene. While he competed at top-tier big air, slopestyle and pipe competitions his biggest accomplishments were witnessed on the silver screen. Ground-breaking video segments with Poorboyz and Matchstick Productions, that showcased his immense talent on street rails and in the backcountry, established him as a true freeski icon. Simultaneously, Henrik continuously refined his big mountain competition skills; winning the prestigious Scandinavian Big Mountain competition six times and finally being crowned Freeride World Tour champion in 2008.

Having such a strong name with decades of experience on the Atomic team will be a huge asset, not only to strengthen the Scandinavian market, but also in testing and developing future products with Atomic. “The boots and skis are performing super well and fit my skiing style 100%” remarks Henrik, who is already skiing on the entire Backland FR range (Bent Chetler 120, Backland FR 117, Backland FR 107) as well as the Vantage 107 TI, while on the boot side of things he switches between the Redster Club Sport 130 and the Hawx Ultra XTD for touring with all new SHIFT binding. Windstedt is also impressed with the Atomic protection gear: “The helmet is light and fits perfectly, and the field of vision of the goggles are best I have seen so far.”

With years of experience under his belt, Henrik Windstedt’s passion for freeride is more focused than ever. He will continue pursuing his many film projects while sharing his know-how with the ever-growing Scandinavian freeski and freeride community. Welcome to the team Henrik!
