It feels good to be in top form ahead of the Nordic World Ski Championships. At the Nordic Combined World Cup in Klingenthal, Redster athletes Fabian Riessle and Lukas Greiderer demonstrated once again: from February 23 they will be contenders for medals in Oberstdorf. Sprinting to 2nd and 4th place in the Cross-Country World Cup on home turf in Ulricehamn, Sweden, Atomic rising star Johanna Hagstroem and teammate Hanna Falk (having recovered from a complicated spinal disc surgery) are likely to be nominated for the World Championships, too.
The entire team is proud of these two Atomic athletes: Following her 4th place in Falun a week ago, in Ulricehamn 22-year-old Johanna Hagstroem won the prologue again and finished 2nd in the final ranking. With this strong performance she is very likely to have secured a place in Sweden's lineup for the World Champs. Atomic sprint icon Hanna Falk is also back on track after almost two years off the circuit – due to severe back problems she had two vertebrae stiffened – just in time before the World Championships in Oberstdorf get underway: her 4th place in the sprint was a sensational comeback!
“These two are true competitive athletes: Johanna only had two chances to recommend herself for the World Champs team. And Hanna coming back so strong after such a long break is simply impressive.”
MEDAL FAVORITES: FABIAN RIESSLE, LUKAS GREIDERER
It is no less impressive how the Redster Combined athletes are continuously stepping up their game towards the season highlight: the World Championships. The last World Cup competition in Klingenthal before the major event saw Fabian Riessle jump and ski onto the podium again, finishing 2nd in the first race. In the second race Lukas Greiderer was 3rd, Riessle 5th, and Manuel Faisst 9th.
“It’s great how they’ve all managed to be in top shape at the right time! This is reassuring, allowing them to be pretty relaxed in the individual preparation for the World Champs – an ideal scenario.”
