MAR 26, 2019
The last racing weekend this World Championship winter has come to an end. And it’s the starting gun for the new season. For the most successful Atomic Nordic Team for years, the time has come to start testing and casting. Redster scouts and equipment specialists are already on their way to Norway and Russia. Their mission: top secret tests of the new model series with a new name. Scouting and recruiting are great qualities in the Atomic Nordic Unit. This was proved by the strong performance this season 2018 / 2019, especially by the newcomers. Do you need proof?
Then look at German Redster Combined athlete Fabian Rießle who won Gold and Silver at the World Championships, his colleague Lukas Geiderer who raced onto the podium for the first time (the three times Bronze winner Franz-Josef Rehrl has been part of the Atomic team for longer). Evgeniy Belov celebrated his first win the World Cup in his debut year for the cross-country skiers. And after his really big breakthrough as the Double Olympic Winner and Silver medal winner in Pyeongchang, Simen Hegstad Krueger finished season 1 with 4th place in the Overall World Cup. A great performance, despite the hype, that surrounds the cross-country star in Norway. And last but not least, Simon Eder who can also be really happy with his performance this winter after his comeback to Atomic, with 8th place in the Overall World Cup.
LOTS OF MAGIC MOMENTS AND SUCCESSFUL ATOMIC DEBUTS
It was a long winter with lots of highlights for the Atomic Nordic Team, for the Redster athletes, it was the best season for years. Especially for the “Nordic Four” with Fabian Rießle, Franz-Josef Rehrl, Manuel Faißt and Lukas Geiderer who provided magic moments all season long and at the Nordic Ski World Championships in Seefeld, Rießle won the Gold and Silver, and Rehrl won the Bronze three times in a row.
By the way for Rießle and Geiderer the Atomic adventure started last year. As they belong to the successful newcomers: athletes who appreciate the individualism and professionalism in the Redster team and vice versa and who also fitted into Nordic Team Manager Peter Landl’s recruiting matrix exactly. Casting the right team players, which is also invaluable in the Nordic team, is a quality of Atomic. Landl: “It’s decisive to find the optimum balance of women and men according to nationality, mentality, with their strengths and disciplines, especially for a small team like ours. And just as the performance charts of our newcomers show, we have made the right decisions and the athletes have as well.” See our debut winner on Atomic, Evgeniy Belov, as well as Simon Eder, who, after 10 years away, celebrated a successful comeback on the brand of his heart.
AND NOW THE BIG PHASE OF TESTING AND CASTING BEGIN
These success stories in Redster red are the best advertising in the industry. That’s why the Atomic specialists are now on their way to secret tests in Norway and Russia with the new Redster range. As even spectacular athletes know the performance of Atomic material is exceptional and it’s highly probable that there will be some prominent newcomers. Any names yet? Peter Landl says: “Not at this delicate stage, it’s top secret. We’ll keep to our agreements of strict confidentiality and discretion.”
ATOMIC MANAGER PETER LANDL: “SIMEN DID REALLY WELL THIS WINTER“
It’s a long list of top athletes’ performances that impressed Peter Landl so much this World Championship winter. But the Atomic Team Manager just picked out one of them: the one by Simen Hegstad Krueger. In the end, he came 4th in the Overall World Cup, in his first winter after his exceptional breakthrough as the Double Olympic Winner in 2018. According to Landl: “Who knows, what hype surrounds the cross-country star in Norway, what such a meteoric start can mean for such a young athlete, also knows: that Simen’s season performance is worth Gold, even if everything didn’t go according to plan for him at the Nordic World Championships. The confirmation alone, that he’s one of the best cross-country skiers in the world is important. Now he can recover with this knowledge and start the next season relaxed.”
