Hawx Ultra XTD is the first boot to erase the line between all-mountain skiing and touring. So we thought, who better to put it to the test than the ultimate all-round skier?
ALL MOUNTAINS. ONE BOOT.
Daron Rahlves - one of America’s most decorated downhill racers and now one of our top freeride athletes… who better to see if Hawx Ultra XTD really does live up to its hype as the ultimate all-round boot?
With the Hahnenkamm a few days away, we sent Daron to Kitzbühel to cast his expert eye over the course and especially check out the conditions on and off the slopes next to it.
It was a race he won a few years ago, but we weren’t sending him out to reminisce. We wanted to know what the most versatile skier in the world thinks of our new Hawx Ultra XTD boots.
THE BEST OF ALPINE. THE BEST OF BACKCOUNTRY.
When our Hawx Ultra was released last year, a lot of our customers and retail partners were asking for a walk-mode version – for the growing amount of skiers wanting one boot for all-mountain skiing and freeride touring.
In response our boot guys have come up with something special: a boot with the power, foot hold and customizable fit of our Hawx Ultra alpine boot combined with the epic natural movement and lightness of an Atomic Backland. Crucially without compromising on either.
“VERSATILITY IS THE WAY TO KEEP A SMILE ON, NO MATTER WHAT THE CONDITIONS.”
It took one day to convince Daron the Hawx Ultra XTD is the one he had been waiting for! We didn’t impose any rules. We simply set Daron free on the slopes of Kitzbühel to experience the boot for himself.
Check out the video – whether Daron is skinning up hills and ripping back down or going deep into the backcountry to escape the crowds – the Hawx Ultra XTD delivers the goods. It’s his one boot to do it all.
Hawx Ultra XTD will be available in fall 2017. Or if you already want to take a look at it and you’re going to ISPO, see you there!
