Iwan Arnold (SUI)
While the Swiss athlete Iwan Arnold could only finish 21st in the vertical race of the first day, he was able to take a spot on the podium in the sprint race. Due to very low temperatures, many athletes cancelled their participation at short notice. Arnold, however, managed to deal with the conditions successfully and provided himself with a solid basis for the season: “The discussion going on prior to the race was very exhausting. In the competition I felt good, I could deal with the cold even better than I had expected. In the final, I wanted to give everything, but I had problems with the ski fixation mechanism of my backpack in the carrying passage. I’m very satisfied with my 3rd rank.” The athletes now have to digest the long travel and the climatological conditions and will use the long break before the World Cup in Villars/Switzerland to optimize their physical shape and to test and get used to new material.
