FLYING BLIND TO THE NEXT BENCHMARK
In the Ladies Mikaela Shiffrin outshone the whole Redster performance. The 23 year old came in fourth in the giant slalom (“I was missing the right level of aggressiveness”) but continued her winning streak in the slalom. A race, which due to poor visibility, wasn’t really easy to win. “Sometimes I didn’t even know if I was still on course” admitted Shiffrin, who has 310 points after just four races this season (five more than last year) and who’s won all three slaloms in Killington. Just like 25 out of the last 31, Shiffrin has been on the podium at least 29 times. Christian Höflehner: “What I admire most is that while the competition is out there fighting to beat the others, Mikaela is just thinking about her races, winning almost nearly deliberately.” Killington 2018 was Shiffrin’s 34th slalom World Cup victory overall, where she’s now only one win behind her youth idol Marlies Schild. And in Courchevel she’s got the historical chance to equalize on 22nd December.
