JAN 18, 2021
In this somewhat improvised pandemic winter everyone is focused on the World Champs: the season’s highlights will kick off in Pokljuka on February 10 (biathletes) and in Oberstdorf on February 23 (Nordic athletes). It’s great news that the Redster team is increasingly stepping up its game: Fabian Riessle and Lukas Greiderer were again among the top performers at the Nordic Combined World Cup in Val di Fiemme. The Atomic biathlete duo Benjamin Weger and Simon Eder impressed with strong performances in Oberhof, while Atomic’s Norwegians demonstrated on home turf that they are ready for medals.
Even if top star Franz-Josef Rehrl will unfortunately miss the Nordic World Championships, his Atomic Combined colleagues are ready to step into the breach. Fabian Riessle finished 4th and 8th in the individual competitions in Val di Fiemme and won the team relay – Lukas Greiderer placed 2nd. Greiderer and his Redster buddy Manuel Faisst finished 9th and 11th in both individual races.
BENJAMIN 3RD, SAM SENSATIONAL 5TH
What an amazing final day for the Atomic biathletes in the 15k mass start at the Oberhof Biathlon World Cup. Benjamin Weger finished 3rd with a faultless shooting performance, Simon “Sam” Eder 5th. Atomic Nordic Manager Peter Landl is extremely happy about how his top athletes’ form curve has been on the rise lately: “Especially Simon’s upward trend is pretty sensational, and in terms of timing just right for the World Champs in Pokljuka."
SIMEN HEGSTAD KRUEGER, WENG TWINS FIT FOR WORLD CHAMPS
There is more good news from the Norwegian top Atomic athletes, who were able to get a feeling of where they stand at the the National Championships in Trondheim, in view of the Nordic Ski World Championships: superstar and double Olympic champion Simen Hegstad Krueger finished 4th in the skiathlon, and so did Anne Kjersti Kalvaa. Tiril Udnes Weng took 3rd place in the sprint, her sister Lotta came in 5th.
