Ski poles should be chosen to match one’s height (A). A simple formula for this is A x 0.85 (for Classic), A x 0.9 (for Skating).
Another way to determine the appropriate nordic-skiing pole length is a practical test. For Classic the poles should reach up to the shoulder. For Skating up to the chin or nose.
The below table shows length orientation values. When in doubt, choose the longer pole length, as the pole shaft can be shortened easily.
