PAULINE (95): HER MOST ARDENT FAN PRESENT LIVE
This was far less due to the fact that Mikaela had not been able to make many good training days in her parade discipline. It was partly due to the enormous enthusiasm she triggers it in the largest ski area of the East. Women's races in the World Cup can hardly compete with the spectators' gathering. All because of her! And in the middle of the thousands of fans: a sweet, old lady with 95 years in a wheelchair, Mikaela's grandmother Pauline. Her most loyal, oldest, most ardent fan is for the first time present live. At the races in Europe, grandma Pauline sets the alarm clock for the middle of the night - and in Killington she took the opportunity to spur on her granddaughter from the finish line. "For me It's really exciting she’s here, I'm so proud of my grandmother and I love her above everything," said the Atomic athlete.
How beautiful it was when this touching old lady could cheer at the end for her granddaughter, because she had just won the 10th slalom in which she started, winning the lead in the overall World Cup to 157 points. After three races, mind you and for Thanksgiving, an important holiday for the Americans. The Shiffrin show could go on at the weekend in Lake Louise at her downhill debut. "Her strength is impressive in all disciplines," the Atomic Racing Manager Christian Höflehner is scattering roses for her, just like the entire ski world.
A second Atomic athlete also celebrated Thanksgiving in Killington: Sofia Goggia drove for the first time to podium place 3 in the 39th race of her world cup career in the giant slalom of Killington.
