ATOMIC MEGASTAR MIKAELA: SHE’S WON EVERYTHING ALREADY
AND IS NOT EVEN 24
In the era of the Atomic megastars Mikaela Shiffrin and Marcel Hirscher most of the records were broken long ago. But one monumental threshold still has to be cracked: the 86 World Cup wins by Ingemar Stenmark. However, even experts agree that this record will fall in the coming years. And her record is probably going to be beaten by a young lady: Mikaela Shiffrin, who has already won 57 races in her career to-date. If this coming weekend is a typical Mika weekend, at the technical races in Spinderuv Mlyn, in the Czech Republic, then wins number 58 and 59 could also appear on her scorecard.
She won in the World Cup even before she was able to drive. And now she’s going to turn 24. On March 13, when she’s competing, as the Overall World Cup winner, Slalom World Cup winner and maybe even as GS World Cup winner, for her World Cup Crystal Globe #4, the small Crystal Globe in the Super G at the World Cup finale in Soldeu. Where this year she became a winner: four times (including the World Championships in Åre), she was at the start and four times she was on top of the podium. The breakthrough in the Super G means, that she now also belongs to the illustrious circle of racers, who has won in all disciplines. Strictly speaking, as city events didn't exist in this form before, the Atomic megastar is now the only real all-rounder of all time.
