About Stephan
Stephan Eberharter made his World Cup debut at the age of 20. The then 21-year-old made his big breakthrough at the 1991 World Championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm where he triumphed in Super-G and in the combination and became double world champion. In the following years, Eberharter was thrown back again and again by injuries and fell out of the ÖSV team. But the Tyrolean fought back and became one of the biggest competitors of Hermann Maier. In the 2001/02 season he won ten races and took the overall World Cup by over 600 points, as well as the Downhill and Super-G World Cups. The following year he succeeded in repeating this. In 2002 he was crowned Olympic champion in the giant slalom and in 2003, 12 years after his first world championship title, he again won a gold medal, namely in the Super-G at the World Championships in St. Moritz.
