- About Matthias
- Matthias "Hauni" Haunholder is an Austrian freeride pioneer from Walchsee in Tyrol who helped shape the early years of the sport's professional circuit. After winning the Freeride World Qualifier Tour in 2008, he became the first German-speaking skier to win a Freeride World Tour stop when he took Tignes in 2009, later adding a third place at Fieberbrunn in 2011. A state-certified ski instructor and mountain guide who studied sport at the University of Innsbruck, "Hauni" turned his talent toward adventure, filming remote big mountain lines from Antarctica to Siberia in productions like No Man's Land, The White Maze, and Onekotan: The Lost Island. Today he remains a driving figure in freeriding as an athlete, filmmaker, keynote speaker, and coach, still chasing beautiful lines in the mountains.
