AGAINST HIS WILL THE ALL-ROUNDER HOPES FOR A LATE CAREER START

In ski racing it’s not only the superstars and series winners, who have earned our respect, but also those and especially those who have been working on their career for a long time to fulfil their personal dreams, despite adversities and setbacks. One of these quiet role models is Wiley Maple. Slowed down by three knee operations, back problems, ankle and elbow injuries the 28 year old speed specialist is giving everything to live his dream. Even though he has to paint houses in summer at home in Aspen and deliver food to a barbecue restaurant to save up $30,000, which the US ski association demands from him as travel expenses contribution, who cares? His first Return on Investment came in 2018: where he successfully qualified for the Olympics. But that’s not all. “I’m not content to give up with 25 places in the World Cup. It’s time for better things to come. A career which really earns this description.” He’s definitely earned it.
