The Nordic athletes from Atomic were able to persuade at three venues this past weekend.
At the final training for the Olympic in Pyeongchang, Sondre Turvoll Fossli missed his second World Cup victory after Ruka 2015 in the Classic Sprint by only two tenths. The 23-year-old Norwegian is now 14th in the Overall Sprint Ranking. Team colleague Silje Oeyre Slind did the same as her countryman in the ladies' competition and won the first top three ranking of her career with second place. She missed first place by 1.6 seconds. In the Ski Athlon, Maria Nordström finished with her best World Cup ranking so far winning fifth place and decisively contributed to the Swedish victory in the team sprint, Silje Oeyre Slind was ninth in the Ski Athlon and second in the team.
The Youth World Championship in Soldier Hollow (USA) was even more impressive - 2 x Gold, 1 x Silver! Janosch Brugger (19) won the Classic Sprint against five Scandinavians in the finals. In the Ski Athlon of the U23-Ladies, Lotta Udnes Weng skied ahead. The 20-year-old Norwegian showed good constant performance in the Classic and Free technique with her best fourth and fifth split time, gaining the decisive four seconds on her strongest pursuer in the change-over zone. Her twin sister Tiril Udnes Weng, fourth in the Ski Athlon, achieved silver over 10 km of skating (16.8 seconds behind the two years older winner), where Lotta missed the tenth bronze again by only one tenth of a second.
Kathrine Harsem, winning a classic third place at the Norwegian Championships in Lygna, rounded off the Redster success run. Marthe Kristoffersen and Anne Kjersti Kalva finished fifth and eighth respectively.
Before the World Championships in Lahti the World Cup competitions will take place in Otepaä (Estonia) on 18/19. February.
