The race analysis was pretty simple: „One or two turns were a little sloppy, that’s enough on the level we are competing at at the moment“, said Marcel Hirscher tracing the 0.06 second deficit in the slalom of Adelboden. Due to unfavorable weather conditions it was Marcel‘s only chance to score on the Chuenisbärgli. The second place finish was worth 80 points for the overall rankings that play a leading role in this winter without a major championship. Marcel has the historic chance to win his fifth consecutive crystal globe, a feat no other athlete before has achieved.
The precision he is showing with that is a display of his master class.“ The slalom in Adelboden was a perfect example for controlled risk. „Despite the tough conditions Marcel was skiing safely at all time“, added Höflehner who appreciates the adjustments on the Redster-setup in terms of running smoothness and tracking stability and is looking forward to the classic events in Wengen, Kitzbühel and Schladming.
CONTROLLED RISK: MARCEL‘S PRECISION IS ONE OF A KIND
Adelboden again was proof of the technical and tactical brilliance of Marcel Hirscher. Atomic Race Director Christian Höflehner explains: „What impresses me with Marcel is that he has been extending his super-streak for many years each and every week. What is even more remarkable is that he must keep the overall ranking in the back of his mind. While the slalom specialists can go full risk, Marcel needs to keep balance between risk and control.
