Victoria Carl crowned herself U23-World Champion in the Freestyle-race (10KM). Over 10 KM Classic the cross-country shooting star added a silver medal to her portfolio. Simen Hegstad Krueger ran to victory in the 15 KM Freestyle event. The highly talented Weng-twins Lotta and Tiril contributed two silver and one bronze medal to the Atomic-collection. In total half a dozen of single medals, plus three from the relay – that left the Redster-team with lots of joy and high expectations for the future.
20 years old and already a „golden lady“ racing in her own league: Germany’s cross country wunderkind Victoria Carl also delivered at the Nordic Junior World Championship in Rasnov (Romania): World Champion over 10KM Freestyle and silver over 10KM Classic. She now has 12 medals in major events, 8 of which shine in gold. At the Junior World Championship 2015 in Almaty she won gold twice within 24 hours. 2013 in Liberec she already mounted the podium 3 times. Furthermore Victoria can look back to precious metal at the EYOF and national championships. What is even more remarkable with her victory in Rasnov: the German had to deal with injury problems last fall in the run-up to the season. The image of her celebration at the awards ceremony immediately became Victoria’s cover photo on her Facebook-profile while she directly moved on to Canada to compete in the World Cup there.
The Redster-Show in Romania had started already on the first two days when Norway‘s Atomic-hopeful Lotta Udnes Weng won silver in both the 1,3 KM Freestyle-Sprint and over 5 KM Classic. Her twin sister Tiril captured bronze over 10 KM Freestyle. In the final team event they added silver each to their medal collection. In total the Power-twins from the North have already won eight medals at Junior World Championships and five national titles. More to come.
