Last weekend, French Cambre d’Aze, the second station of the ISMF World Cup, waited for the Atomic athletes with an individual and a sprint competition. Twice, the sportsmen were fastest, but still there was only one victory. How did it come so far?

SPRINT BRINGS VICTORY
In the sprint competition, it was again a Backland-athlete, who could finish the race with the best time. In a hard fight, Iwan Arnold from Switzerland was able to come out on top. In his prime discipline, he managed to make the right decisions and made pressure in the right moment. That’s how he commented his victory: “I had very good legs and could pace myself in the qualification and in the pre-runs well. In the final run, I was able to build up the deciding lead with the help of the Atomic Rocker-skins. Shortly before we arrived at the finish line, it was only a marginal lead again. I was very happy about my victory, I had not thought I could score against the strong competitors.“ Outstanding was also the victory of twenty-year-old Julia Casanovas Cuiran from Spain. The young
athlete, belonging to Mireia Miro’s national group supported by Atomic Backland, was able to outdo all her competitors and was very happy about it.

INDIVIDUAL RACE AGAIN WITH BEST TIME FOR ATOMIC
Like last week in Andorra, Italian Damiano Lenzi reached the finish line first in the individual competition in France. With some 4 seconds’ lead in the finish, he demonstrated his recent strength once again. Unfortunately, the strong performance did not result in a victory; after a jury decision, the whole podium was disqualified. Lenzi, like his two competitors, was kicked out of the podium and the ranking.

GOOD START INTO THE SEASON
The world cup season is in full swing and could not be working out better for Atomic. With three exceptional performances in the main disciplines of the first four competitions and additional top results in the junior categories, Backland-ski and Rocker-skins from Altenmarkt clearly are tools for winners.

WORLD CUP RACE IN TURKEY IS THE NEXT STATION
On February 11 and 12, the next station of the ISMF World Cup is in Erzincan, East-Turkey. Due to the current situation in Turkey it is not clear yet, who of the athletes will start there. From February 23 to March 1, the world championships in Tambre, Italy, will be the highlight of the season.
