The week began on the masive Big Air jump in Tøyen, near the Oslo city center. Over 14,000 fans were on site to witness the best 8 Big Air skiers to battle it out on the 410 foot long, 187 foot high scaffolding jump, the first since the early X Games, in San Francisco. The 24 year old Colorado native, Gus Kenworthy, was looking to extend his recent Winter X Games success and came out swinging with a first score 91.66, on a switch double cork 1440. Although Gus crashed on his second attempt, he was able to hold on for 3rd on the podium, and another X Games Bronze Medal. Once again, the young Swiss talent, Fabian Boesch, the winner of the Winter X Games Aspen 2016 Big Air event, found himself on the podium, just missing out on another X Games Gold. Boesch landed his triple cork 1620 on both attempts, but was not enough to catch the Swede, Henrik Harlaut. Fabian has now medaled in both of the Winter X Games he has entered, and looks to continue that success towards the upcoming Winter Olympic Games, in South Korea.
