Super Marcel conquers the speed disciplines. The short trip to the US paid off big time for Marcel Hirscher. Atomic‘s super star won both of his races in Beaver Creek collecting the maximum of 200 world cup points.

In the Super-G he opened a new chapter in his career bestseller. Racing on a brand new Redster model he posted a thrashing victory, his first ever in a speed event. Only 24 hours later he claimed his 15th win in a Giant Slalom surpassing the atomic all time stars Hermann Maier and Benjamin Raich! Next weekend in Val d’Isere he’ll be gunning to take back the red jersey of the overall leader.

„My optimistic plan was to rack up 100 points in total“, said Marcel Hirscher after his back-to-back victory in Beaver Creek. „Going back to Europe now with 200 points is be-yond words. Frankly, my best result in a Super-G here has been a 16th place …“: How-ever Marcel made history once again winning for the first time in a speed discipline.

SPEED-SKI PUNDIT HAS YET AGAIN PERFORMED MAGIC
Four factors were pivotal in achieving that feat: 1.) An intelligent, gradual improvement of Team Hirscher in the speed disciplines. 2.) The favorable conditions for skilled technical skiers on racing day. 3.) The flat light didn’t bother Marcel Hirscher who is trusting the brightening Zeiss-glasses of his Atomic Revel³ M Marcel ski goggles. 4.) Tuning-Guru Edi Unterberger set his hand on Marcel‘s Redster FIS Doubledeck SG. Back in the days the pundit was also preparing the Atomic speed skis of all-time greats Hermann Maier and Michael Walchhofer. „We have analyzed each and every section and I can certify that Edi has performed some magic again“, said Atomic Race Director Christian Höflehner who paid tribute to Hirscher’s service expert.

100 HOURS TUNING OF MARCEL’S REDSTER AHEAD OF FIRST RACE
Marcel Hirscher won the Super-G with a brand new Redster model that went through baptism of fire. Atomic’s tuning experts, with Edi Unterberger leading the way, have spent around 100 working hours to find the perfect setup for the running surface and edges. Several rounds of waxing, honing and brushing meticulously took place for just a single pair of skis. Marcel Hirscher‘s Redster-range comprises around 100 pairs (40 Gi-ant Slalom, 40 Slalom, 20 Speed), that are called into action during the whole season.

Team Hirscher-Unterberger has made also the right call in the Giant Slalom resulting in the 15th World Cup victory for Marcel in the arguably most sophisticated discipline. With that win Hirscher surpassed the All-time GS-giants and Atomic Wall of Famers Hermann Maier and Benjamin Raich.

After claiming 200 points in the 2 races Marcel is taking a 2-day-break at home before strapping on his Slalom skis. 2 days of practice will get him ready for the two technical races in Val d’Isere where he wants to conquer the red jersey of the overall leader in the World Cup.

“My optimistic plan was to rack up 100 points in total. Going back to Europe now with 200 points is be-yond words. Frankly, my best result in a Super-G here has been a 16th place”

MIKAELA SHIFFRIN 15TH AT SPEED-DEBUT

Atomic-Superstar Mikaela Shiffrin accomplished a truly sensational debut in her first ever World Cup Super-G. „This is the right path for the future“, said Mikaela, who was clearly satisfied with her 15th place in Lake Louise. This weekend in Åre she’s back in her tech-nical domains (GS and Slalom) aspiring to regain the lead in the overall World Cup.
