Serial world champion on roller skis, Redster-Swede Linn Soemskar demonstrates her power on snow: in the cross-country World Cup in Dresden she finished 5th in the individual and 3rd in the team sprint. The World Cup community is celebrating with Marco Schwarz: it took him only eight races to climb the podium again after coming back from his ACL tear. His 3rd place in Adelboden was an emotional highlight for the Atomic crew this past weekend. Race Manager Christian Höflehner is also pleased with the Redster ladies’ performance in the downhill of Altenmarkt-Zauchensee and with Atomic’s next generation racers getting ever closer to the world’s best.

SIMEN HEGSTAD KRUEGER WINS LAST STAGE OF TOUR DE SKI

Simen Hegstad Krueger’s latest Tour de Ski was anything but “easy-peasy”. Despite his recent 15k victory in Davos, things did not go according to plan in his favorite discipline, the 15k – neither in Toblach nor in Val di Fiemme. But a true champ never gives up: Krueger triumphed in the last race of the Tour with an impressive finish on the legendary final climb towards Alpe Cermis, earning him a 5th place in the overall Tour de Ski ranking.

BACKLAND ON TOP ALREADY AT FIRST WORLD CUP OF THE SEASON

The kickoff to this season’s Skimountaineering World Cup took place in Aussois in the French national park Vanoise. The Backland athletes were able to deliver outstanding performances, above all Iwan Arnold, who celebrated a victory in the Sprint competition and Junior Paul Verbnjak, who left the event with two second places.

It was razor-thin, mega strong and extremely cool: Sofia Goggia’s triumph in the Super-G of St. Moritz was not only super tight – with a lead of only one hundredth of a second – it was also soothing. With the Redster double podium, thanks to Mikaela Shiffrin’s 3rd place, everyone in the Atomic team now looks forward to more speed thrillers this season. The female Super-G’s hero, however, was a man.

THE REDSTER STARS’ SPEED POWERPLAY – 17 TOP 10 RESULTS FOR ATOMIC!

The speed weekend impressively demonstrated the Atomic team’s strength. The Redster racers return from North America to Europe with 17 top ten results in five speed events. Particularly on the women’s side the speed opening proved to be a Redster powerplay: first World Cup victory for carving phenomenon Ester Ledecka (Olympic champion in Super-G and Snowboard), podiums for Mikaela Shiffrin, Stephanie Venier, Nicol Delago. Plus strong performances by Aleksander Aamodt Kilde and Adrian Smiseth Sejersted – the next Norge super heroes?

EVGENIJ BELOV’S SEASON STARTS WITH A RELAY VICTORY

Second World Cup stop for the Atomic Nordic Team: Evgenij Below just started into the season in Lillehammer, underperforming in the Skiathlon and winning the Relay race with team RUSSIA II the following day – with a strong individual performance. Simen Hegstad Krueger, having recovered from an infection the previous week, returned with a strong skiing performance and an 11th place in the Skiathlon. In the Nordic Combined competition Fabian Rießle once again proved to be the best Redster athlete, with a 3rd and a 4th place. The Atomic Biathlon athletes also delivered in Oestersund: Benjamin Weger reached a top result coming in 5th in the individual 20k race, while Simon Eder was more than happy about his 12th place, having had a difficult time this past fall.

REDSTER NORDIC: TIRIL STRONG, ATOMIC COMBINED ATHLETES ALL FIT

In terms of benchmarking, this winter’s first race weekend turned out very satisfactory for the Atomic Nordic team. Particularly noteworthy: at the World Cup opening in Ruka (FIN) Tiril Udnes Weng demonstrated not only her well-known sprint strength (6th place) but also showed a strong upward trend in distance racing. Tiril finished 7th in the 10k pursuit race, while the Atomic ladies Anne Kjersti Kalvaa and Victoria Carl also made a good first impression early in the season with strong times in the pursuit. Additionally, the Redster Nordic Combined power team delivered eight top ten results in three competitions.
