One team, One goal, One spirit: the performance of the Redster stars, this last race weekend before Christmas, is the result of successful team culture at Atomic.
Max Franz celebrated his first World Cup victory in Val Gardena. His buddy Marcel Hirscher is also celebrating a first in Alta Badia. For his 41st victory he wore a model of the latest Redster ski boot generation. Two wins and so many highlights - Aleksander Aamodt Kilde and Tina Weirather in 2nd place in the Super-G’s. Sofia Goggia fixed podium number 5 and 6, and is more and more becoming the new ski favorite of Italy.
The downhill classic on the Saslong slope in Val Gardena seemed to be over: Travis Ganong and Aleksander Aamodt Kilde (the day before he was second in the Super-G) were well placed in the ranks 5 and 6. Max Franz was still at the starting line, while the supposed winner was congratulated at the finish line. Way too early! As this day was reserved for what Max Franz has always been predicting: that he would at some time win by taking his genius skiing talent to a race.
This bearer of hope for the speed discipline has been waiting for this moment for 91 races and again and again took setbacks on his way. And then this victory race! "I could not believe it when the green light turned on," Max said at the finish line, visibly touched. "He never gave up the dream! It was a very emotional moment for all of us - for the service man Tom Bürgler, for me and judging by the text messages, also for the entire workforce at Atomic. This constitutes team spirit - and it makes us strong", says Race Manager Christian Höflehner, commenting on the previous season and the final weekend of the race before Christmas. His team? Is still on the best case course: "Just a single podium place is missing, otherwise in all races one of our Atomic athletes stood on the podium so far."
MARCEL HIRSCHER: SOVEREIGN WIN IN HIS NEW REDSTER BOOTS
Marcel Hirscher stood on the podium for the 97th time in his career - and in Alta Badia for the 41st time as the winner. Premier: After having tested the new generation of Redster ski boots several times in the first runs, but then turned to the proven setup in the final, Marcel now achieved his first victory on the further developed Redster FIS Lifted 170. The model he had after intense video analysis were only selected in Alta Badia at short notice: "It was a good thing that we were all there - the potential of the boots was seen in the race".
STRONG ATOMIC LADIES: TINA SECOND, SOFIA COLLECTS PODIUMS
The ream spirit at Atomic is also inspiring the ladies: Tina Weirather was second in Val d'Isere this winter (and is also second in the Super-G rating). Sofia Goggia is in the Redster flow: Italy's new ski favorite fixed podium numbers 5 and 6 in combination and downhill with two third places in Val d'Isere this winter.
Marcel Hirscher can extend his 218-point lead in the overall World Cup at the GS parallel race in Alta Badia and at the slalom in Madonna before Christmas. For the ladies there is still a GS in Courchevel on the agenda.
