ONE-WOMAN-SHOW, ONE-MAN-SHOW BUT IT’S A TEAM EFFORT
Even if Mikaela has made the Ladies Slalom World Cup a one-woman-show and Marcel has made the men’s a one-man-show, ski racing is a team sport. Never have two athletes dominated so strongly, whilst the competitors this World Championship winter have caught up a lot and the fight has become more intense especially in the Slalom. Christian Höflehner, Atomic Global Race Manager: “There are many factors, but just like Marcel Hirscher said himself recently in a long TV interview: one of the most decisive factors for success is the material, the set up, and the trust in the team and in the support. Mikaela and Marcel, they are athletes of the century, and from Atomic, we are supporting them with the best race material, which is being manufactured and tuned for them by the best. This way we are helping each other to improve and to remain at the top. This challenge starts every day again. And it’s unbelievable, how this team, this company and these athletes keep on mastering it again and again.”
And it carries on this weekend: Marcel Hirscher, Marco Schwarz, Manuel Feller and co. have travelled to Bansko in Bulgaria for the Combined (Super G + Slalom), Super G, and GS. Marcel Hirscher is competing in all three races in the final phase of the World Cup season and can trigger a preliminary decision in the GS World Cup as well.
For the Ladies it’s a speed weekend in Rosa Khutor (RUS).
