Justine Dufour-Lapointe’s Path To Winning The Freeride World Tour

A unique collaboration with Freeride World Tour athlete Justine Dufour-Lapointe brings an athlete-edition Atomic Maven 115 CTI to the tour.

At the 2025 Freeride World Tour final stop, held in Verbier, Switzerland, Justine Dufour-Lapointe won the overall women’s ski title. This is her second overall FWT title – she won in 2023 as a rookie on the tour.

Following her first year on the FWT, the Canadian pro skier recognized she needed a stiffer, higher-performance ski for big-mountain freeride. In preparation for the competition season, Justine tried a lot of different skis before she realized she needed a pair that didn’t yet exist. The Atomic athlete and two-time Olympic medalist in mogul skiing had transitioned from a career in moguls to freeride, and she needed a ski capable of handling her style of big-mountain skiing.

Some of the skis she tested felt too heavy; others were too soft. Justine, who’s 5-foot, 4-inches tall, was looking for a ski that fit her frame but was powerful and stiff enough for the strong skiing she was doing. “I wanted a ski that was a bit wider, a bit stiffer, but still a light, playful ski,” Justine says. “The first day I tried it, I knew it was exactly what I needed.”

The ski? A Maven 115 CTI. Atomic’s Maven collection of all-mountain women’s skis has previously included a Maven 83, Maven 86, and Maven 93. A Maven 103 CTI was added to the lineup last year, but until Justine came asking, a 115-millimeter-underfoot version of the Maven didn’t exist. The ski is now being produced in limited quantities for Atomic’s top freeride athletes.

Justine won a gold medal in moguls at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, where, at 19, she was the youngest freestyle skier to win an Olympic gold, and a silver at the 2018 Games in PyeongChang, South Korea. In recent years, she’s been focused on her transition to freeride competitions. In her first year on the FWT in 2023, she made waves with her aggressive, technical skiing and for throwing the occasional backflip.

“I love to innovate and have fun out there. I want to keep learning and pushing myself while also pushing the sport,” she says. “That’s what’s driving me, far more than earning any medal.”
