Partners until 2016. Atomic and Marcel Hirscher prolonged their successful cooperation for four years. “Skis, boots, binding, goggles and helmet – I was not even close to considering any alternatives to Atomic“, the leader of the overall World Cup said shortly before his 23th birthday.
“There are two philosophies in skiing. Either you adapt to the material you are offered – this is the rule. Or you are offered material that is individually adapted to you – this is ATOMIC.“ This is how Marcel Hirscher summarizes the cooperation with his material supplier of many years. Hirscher explained that there were no other sport where the influence and importance of the equipment was this fascinating, “We keep questioning every single details of the material all the time, but the final product is the result of precise handicraft. This is ingenious. There is not one single day where we do not try to improve the setup. This is an incredible effort for all persons involved and without this, considering my style of racing, successes would not be possible. I need partners who are a bit like my dad and me – and everyone we work with at ATOMIC is a bit like us. The whole company is on the same wavelength.“
2 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS, OLYMPIC GAMES AND FOUR WORLD CUP SEASONS
The continuation of the cooperation was not a negotiation of the contract per se. “We all know what we want and we all want the same“, Hirscher, who will stay with ATOMIC using skis, binding, boots, helmet and goggles of the world market leader until the end of the 2016 season, said. Until then, three major events, the World Ski Championships in Schladming 2013, the Olympic Games in Sochi 2014 and the World Ski Championships in Vail/Beaver Creek 2015, will take place. Hirscher, “Usually I do not plan this much in advance, but in this case there was absolutely no doubt. I didn’t even think about alternatives.“
AMBASSADOR OF SKI ENTHUSIASM
For ATOMIC the enthusiasm about the sport ranks first. The quality of the products and the successful engagement in professional racing for decades prove this. Marcel Hirscher does not only impress people by the way he races. It is also the way he talks, his style and his outlook and insights of the sport. This makes him an ambassador of ski enthusiasm. Hirscher, “Professional skiing is more than points and seconds. Skiing is more than just the competitive aspect of the race itself. Some years ago I thought it was a pity that only little information was given away about the details of the sport and how material actually worked. ATOMIC and me share a common interest and a chance in telling about the background of skiing, which is very exciting.“
