Tested by the world's best athletes and deemed as outstanding: the 2011-12 ATOMIC Race collection puts the World Cup technologies developed by the most successful brand in Alpine ski sport in the hands of performance-driven skiers.
The ski technology which made Carlo Janka overall World Cup winner; the boot construction which took Atomic athletes to three crystal globes and seven Olympic medals; the equipment which made all the difference in 20 World Cup wins: what again made ATOMIC the most successful brand at the Alpine Ski World Cup in 2009-10 is now at the disposal of ambitious leisure skiers striving for personal success.
The ATOMIC Race collection covers the entire ski sport spectrum: from pure speed machines based on World Cup know-how and designed for greater precision, more effective edge grip and even more explosive dynamics through to agile all-rounders designed for maximum fun on the slopes at any speed. Presenting the highlights of the ATOMIC Race collection 2011-12:
Doubledeck: the next generation of the World Cup secret weapon
With the D2 Race, ambitious skiers can use the same ski construction as overall World Cup winner Carlo Janka. The competition had no answer to the fourth generation of the simply outstanding D2 Race GS: the ski which combines unparalleled smoothness with maximum effective edge grip even on frozen pistes. This is thanks to a unique construction comprising a separate upper and lower deck. The relatively soft lower deck – or Adapter Deck – absorbs vibrations, delivers optimum edge grip and ensures perfect smoothness. The stabilizing upper deck – or Control Deck – efficiently distributes the power generated by the skier at every stage of the turn.
The six different Race models have been redesigned for the new season and are complemented by the new Performer. This forgiving, compliant performance ski with Active Camber is ideal for newcomers and price-conscious athletes. ATOMIC offers a wide range of bindings for all Race skis, all of which can be perfectly adapted to the skier's individual style: from the X-binding series borrowed directly from the World Cup to the Neox models designed for athletic skiers.
Race Tech: the boot geometry for winners
Years of development have gone into ATOMIC Race boots: the race-proven, exclusive ATOMIC Race geometry delivers a tangible improvement in power transmission on the slopes and a real competitive edge in race conditions. The World Cup chassis, 98mm lasts and Team ASY Pro Liner provide the foot with ultra-precise support, while high-grade aluminum buckles help to reduce weight. The premium RT CS 130 model with 55mm RS Dual Strap enables the skier to maintain a perfect line even at high speeds: it has the same flex as the World Cup boot and is also available with optional low-profile carbon buckles.
A season priority: safety first
Thanks to better prepared pistes and equipment which is easier to master, speeds on the slopes are increasing. ATOMIC has responded by developing reliable safety equipment which offers unrivalled, all-round protection without compromising on mobility or fun. Performance-driven skiers can choose from two different but equally high-grade helmet designs. The aerodynamic Pro Tect WC with ABS shell is the same helmet worn by Benni Raich at the World Cup: lightweight, ultra-robust, FIS-homologated and designed for maximum protection even in the ear region. The design of the Troop SL is more radical. The original helmet worn by Marcel Hirscher combines tried and tested race features with cool freeski visuals and can also be fitted with a chin cup. The shape and design of both helmets are compatible with the ATOMIC Race RS and Race WC ski goggles.
But it's not just the head which requires protection: the back is especially prone to injury from falls. ATOMIC has therefore developed the Live Shield protectors, optimized to the safety needs of skiers. They protect the back and parts of the stomach area from injury, boast excellent breathability and ensure natural freedom of movement in every situation.
