EVEN MORE POWER FOR PARK AND POWDER: THE ATOMIC FREESKI COLLECTION 2011-12

Skis, boots, bindings and safety gear from ATOMIC: for the 2011-12 season ATOMIC has a range of tailor-made equipment for freeskiers which promises to deliver even more fun in park and powder – tested and embraced by Jossi Wells, Chris Benchetler and Daron Rahlves.

Thumbs up or thumbs down? Before they were revealed to skiers the world over, each and every ATOMIC Freeski product was subject to the most rigorous of quality controls: none other than the professionals from the ATOMIC freeski team gave their seal of approval to the skis, boots and accessories for 2011-12. And now they are successfully using many of the products from the collection in competition and for film shoots. And the best thing is: the same equipment used by the likes of Jossi Wells, Chris Benchetler and Daron Rahlves to notch up success after success is now available to all freeskiers.

PERFECT PERFORMANCE THROUGH BESPOKE ROCKER TECHNOLOGIES

For the new season ATOMIC is offering freeskiers two different Rocker constructions: the Adaptive Rocker boasts a long camber profile through to the tip and a Rocker in the shovel area, making it especially stable and enabling the skier to maintain a perfect line – crucial to carrying off tricks and jumps. The Powder Rocker combines a Rocker shape with traditional camber below the binding. The result: maximum lift in powder snow and excellent grip even in tough conditions.

BENT CHETLER: HOW THE WORLD'S BEST POWDER SKI GOT EVEN BETTER

Three years ago the Bent Chetler revolutionized the Freeski market: in collaboration with freeskier Chris Benchetler, ATOMIC's tinkerers developed a first-rate powder ski capable of delivering grip and ensuring control even on hard ground. This was all thanks to its Pop Rocker construction: the Bent Chetler combines a Rocker shape at the tip and tail with traditional camber below the binding. For 2011-12, a new and improved version of the ATOMIC team skier's favorite ski is being launched: once again Benchetler himself is responsible for the entire design. For the new season, the flex characteristics of the wood core profile have been completely revised: greater rigidity in the tail makes landings from high jumps even easier and ensures greater stability of the ski through powder turns. To complement the ski, ATOMIC recommends the Live Grip Sage Pro Model Alu pole – the same model used by Sage Cattabriga-Alosa.

PUNX: X-GAMES PERFORMANCE FOR EVERYONE

The Punx continues to set the standard in Park & Pipe: in 2010 Jossi Wells, Andreas Håtveit and Elias Ambühl picked up overall victory in the Dew Cup, six X-Games medals and the title of the most successful freeski team of the season. And for good reason: the combination of wood core and innovative Active Camber profile ensures high stability on approaches and in the Pipe discipline – which means tricks and jumps can be timed and performed with greater precision. For 2011-12 the Punx has been further improved through the addition of a wear-resistant Resist Edge designed to reduce wear from rail slides. ATOMIC recommends the Volt as the perfect pole. The ideal binding for the Punx is the FFG 14 Team binding: perfectly balanced, steel-reinforced and equipped with brakes optimized for fakies.

BESPOKE BOOT SYSTEMS FOR PARK AND POWDER

As a technological pioneer, ATOMIC has also developed a range of freeski boots: the Tracker 130 with 98mm Pro Fit lasts has been developed for challenging powder adventures. The performance and power transmission of the ultra-wide ski is enhanced by race geometry and a 5mm increase in the stand height of the Enduro chassis. The Power Control Release system helps to save energy on the ascent. Useful extra: the non-slip sole can simply be replaced once it has worn out.
The Volt is the ideal boot for Park & Pipe. Its construction is also based on race geometry and the Enduro chassis. It also features a Shockilla insert and 3D heel insert. This effective shock absorber system is capable of cushioning even the hardest of landings.

NO RISK, LOTS OF FUN: HEADING FOR ADVENTURE WELL PROTECTED

Because not all hard landings are intentional, ATOMIC has developed high-grade helmets and protectors: the new Troop helmet, available in five colors, boasts a progressive style, reliable protection and practical extras – for instance, it is compatible with ear plugs. The Troop can be used with mirrored gold goggles of the same name available in black or pink. ATOMIC's Live Shield protectors are also perfect for use in Big Mountain and Park: they have been especially developed for the needs and movements of skiers. They are ultra-lightweight, breathable and as comfortable to wear in Park or Big Mountain as any other piece of clothing – while offering all-round protection.
