Why waxing is now old hat; how racers can adapt even better to changing snow conditions; and why ATOMIC designs tailor-made core constructions for each different target group: a look ahead to what promises to be the most successful and enjoyable cross-country season ever.
ATOMIC intends to put a smile on the face of every cross-country skier in 2011-12. Because we provide world champions and beginners, leisure athletes and snow hikers with the very best equipment: equipment tailored to everyone's individual needs. We have developed new technologies, improved upon existing ones and subjected them to the most rigorous quality control measures in existence: our own ambition to construct the best Nordic skis, boots and bindings in the world.
BESPOKE CORE CONSTRUCTIONS FOR EVERY TARGET GROUP
To ensure that every cross-country skier has the best ski for his or her needs, ATOMIC has developed core technologies for every performance level. For racers, the Nomex Featherlight core has been further optimized: ATOMIC's lightest ski is still the lightest ski on the market and boasts optimized dynamics and stability. The models for pleasure skiers feature Densolite and High Densolite cores, which boast a particularly outstanding power-to-weight ratio while also giving the cross-country skier a superb feeling of balance. The more athletic skiers can combine dynamic performance with low weight with the Speedcell, Powercell and Helium Tube cores.
NO MORE WAXING THANKS TO POSIGRIP AND SKINTEC
Ambitious leisure athletes are often pushed for time, forced to organize training sessions around work and family. To make good use of every last minute, ATOMIC has developed SKINTEC – the world's first high-performance climbing system technology. It is a technology which ensures that the ski is always ready for use and produces a dynamic kick in all snow conditions. Its party piece: two different skin inlays can, if necessary, be inserted in a matter of seconds. At the same time, a symmetrical camber ensures efficient and effortless skiing.
ATOMIC also offers two grip technologies: G2 SYNCRO is the tried and tested variant for pleasure skiers who want to be able to glide securely and push off stably with minimal effort. The new POSIGRIP 3D technology is sure to impress athletic skiers with further improved grip and glide characteristics in all snow conditions. This is thanks to a heat-embossed positive grip system.
HOW THE WC SKATE TAKES ALL SNOW CONDITIONS IN ITS STRIDE
In the battle for every last meter and tenth of a second, ATOMIC's top athletes Christoph Sumann, Bill Demong and Johnny Spillane will have two new, uncompromising weapons in their arsenal for 2011-12: the WC Skate now comes in variations designed for soft and hard snow and which differ in terms of length and sidecut. On the Soft Track, a specially defined 3D shape maintains ultra-stability in the centre of the ski, while extreme flexibility at the tip and tail, short contact zones and a single groove ensure outstanding gliding characteristics. By contrast, the Hard Track is extremely stable over its entire length. Long contact zones and a double groove ensure excellent tracking and stability while gliding.
BOOTS, BINDINGS AND POLES FOR EVERY PERFORMANCE LEVEL
The ATOMIC Nordic ski collection now includes a wide range of high-grade equipment for all target groups. ATOMIC boots – which range from the WC Skate and Classic World Cup boot and the best-selling women's models Aina and Ashera to the comfortable Mover models – now feature a new sole construction which improves power transmission. The range of bindings now includes the SNS Wedge. Mounted as a plate below the binding, it aids weight distribution and minimizes the strain on the shovel. This provides improved kick and edge grip. Four ultra-lightweight carbon poles and an inexpensive aluminum alternative are also now available.
