SUPER WEEKEND FOR ATOMIC

Perfect performance. Second slalom of the season, second victory for the Atomic D2 race and slalom queen Marlies Schild. In Courchevel, she was carving to her 31st world cup victory (the 29th in slalom) with the famous Schild smile. Atomic ladies Zettel and Kirchgasser finished 3rd and 4th. Philipp Schörghofer finished 3rd in the men’s giant slalom in Alta Badia; this was his second podium place after Sölden. Despite low back pain Marcel Hirscher ranked 5th.

World champion Marlies Schild has a lot of fun and you can tell when looking at her. It goes without saying that this also influences her slalom performance – second victory of the season, this time 1.87 seconds ahead of second place. “At the moment, everything just goes like clockwork. My serviceman Rudi Berger knows how to prepare my setup perfectly well for my needs under any conditions – thank you, Rudi!“ The preparations of the ATOMIC athletes in Courchevel were special. Due to masses of snow the pole training was cancelled and Schild, Zettel, Kirchgasser and their colleagues enjoyed deep powder snow skiing instead. “This was a good training for your balance and it seems it made me faster“, Michaela Kirchgasser was happy about 4th place.

SECOND PODIUM FOR SCHÖRGHOFER

On the legendary Gran Risa in Alta Badia the ATOMIC men showed a solid performance as usual: Philipp Schörghofer finished 3rd, just like he did at the season kick-off in Sölden. As he is a master of his trade and belongs to the best in the world, the ATOMIC athlete is invited to join the Alpine Rock-Fest in Paganella on 23 December, a 60.000 Euro invitation race. Marcel Hirscher has different plans: he wants to cure his low back pain until the next slalom on Monday. “A muscle blocked. Considering this, the 5th place is really okay.“
