How and when did you start skiing

When I was 3-years-old I started skiing for the first time with my parents in Telluride. My mom was kind of learning to ski at the same time as me so we were good partners for one another.

Who were you skiing with at first

Once I was good enough to cruise around unassisted I would spend the days following my brothers around the mountain and trying to imitate everything they did.

What terrain where you riding at first

I was pretty big on mogul skiing when I was really young but it didn't take that long for me to realize that I was only into it for the jumps and that was when I decided to switch my focus to the terrain park.

Who were some early influences on your skiing

My brother's influenced my skiing a lot when I was young; I basically just tried to copy everything that they did and one-up them when I could. When I started getting more into the park scene it was all about TJ Schiller. I was a huge TJ fan.

Do you enjoy skiing in contests

Definitely! Contest skiing is my biggest focus at the moment and it's what I enjoy doing the most.

How could contests be improved

One thing that's frustrating about contests is that the judges are changed up a lot throughout the winter and it makes it difficult to know exactly what they're going to be looking for and what they'll be awarding highly on any given day.

What do you think of ski movies

One of the best parts about September is that all the new ski movies are being released. I love checking out what all the different crews have been up to all winter and see my friends killing it! Plus I love seeing the filming and editing styles and listening to different soundtracks that each production offer.

Which are your favorites

I'm always a big fan of the Level 1 movies. I wish that the park segments had a bigger presence in the MSP movies because I think that their movies always look really professional and well done. Growing up the Poorboyz movies were always my favorites.

Do you enjoy shooting video parts

I love shooting for videos but I kind of hate having to hold onto the footage all year to make it into a full part. I think that shooting edits is way more fun because the features don't have to be as unique, and there's a quick turn around from when you film it to when you put it online. Plus you don't have to make big choices with music or the style of the edit because you can produce a lot of different content in the same time it takes to do one full-year video part.

Do you ski in the rain

Sometimes I do, but it's definitely something I try to avoid if at all possible.

What do you like about Atomic

One of the biggest things I like about Atomic is just how reliable the equipment is. It's crucial that I have peace of mind knowing that my gear is going to be able to withstand the beating that I put it through and continue to perform at the top level for me.

How did you get on Atomic

Atomic is a company that I've been stoked on for a long time. A little over a year ago they asked me to join the family and I felt like it would be a great fit for me so I made the switch to join the brand and I haven't looked back since!

Who do you ski with now

I ski with Bobby a lot. Joss Christensen is one of my favorite people to ski with too. Then I also like skiing with Wallisch Torin, Jossi, Schlopy, the Canadian boys and my friends on the US team.

Who are your favorite skiers of all time

As I said before, I grew up idolizing TJ Schiller so I would have to say him for sure. David Chrichton was a huge influence on me as well. I was definitely pretty stoked on most of the big named dudes but I remember being particularly stoked on Jossi Wells, Peter Olenick, Andreas Hatveit, Pep Fujas, and Jon Olsson when I was younger.

What have been the highlights of your skiing career

This year in Tignes, France I picked my first X Games medal. I was a little bummed that it was a bronze one and not gold, but I'm still super proud of it either way and I'm hoping there will be a lot more in the future. Anytime I win or podium at a big event it's always a highlight though, a few I was really stoked on would be JOI, Dumont Cup, WSI, Dew Tour, etc...

Is there anything in skiing you haven't done that you'd like to accomplish

X Games gold is probably my all time biggest goal ever since I started freeskiing and it's still unchecked on the bucket list so hopefully I can tick that box soon. Making it to the Olympics and getting a medal there is a big goal as well. I've never had a proper magazine cover either and that's on the list for sure! A Freeskier photo annual cover would be the tightest!

What do you do besides skiing

I used to skateboard a lot but I kept hurting myself and I kind of had to force myself to quit. Golf has kind of turned into my new favorite bobbie and even though I only started recently I'm super stoked on it. Otherwise, when I'm not skiing I just like be outside and be active and adventurous. I really love photography and taking pictures, I love reading and getting hooked on a new book and I love going to the movies and/or getting hooked on a new TV series.

What music art books have you been enjoying lately

The new Jay-Z, J Cole, and Kendrick Lamar albums were all dope. I pretty stoked on the new Vampire Weekend CD too! Right now I have a stack of books that I need to get through that I've been a little lazy about.

What are your future goals

I just bought a condo in Denver that I'll be moving into soon and I'm kind of in the process of furnishing and decorating it, which has been a lot of fun for me. Other than that I'm just training, trying to stay on top of my game and hopefully making it to Sochi for the 2014 Winter Olympics in February. I don't really have anything planned much further away than that, which I like :)
