Østensen wins last test before Vasaloppet

Atomic athletes dominate the long distance scene. Simen østensen won the last test before the vasaloppet, the season’s highlight. Ski Classics overall leader Anders Aukland and Borre Naess ranked third and fourth. Together with Jörgen Aukland, winner of the Marcialonga, four Atomic cross country skiers will go about the 90 kilometers of the longest classic of the world in Sweden.

In the 42nd edition of the Tartu Marathon the decision was made among the topflight group of 17 athletes and in a photo finish, but after all Simen Østensen on his Atomic Worldcup Classic FL SDS, the Worldcup Classic Boot and the SNS Propulse RC binding won, leading by four tenth of a second. “I am happy that I felt so strong in the finish and was this fast,” Østensen cheered after his first victory in Estonia. “Anders (Aukland) and I convinced with good speed, but the snow conditions made it obvious that there would have to be a sprint in the end.” The two-time Tartu winner Anders Aukland was satisfied as well, “I am really happy that I was on the podium.”
