Kilian Jornet wins first World Cup Race of the Season
Today atomic athlete kilian jornet won the first race of the ismf ski mountaineering world cup 2014 in verbier (sui).
Jornet only participated in a few World Cup competitions last year as other alpine projects took precedence. Today's victory, however, clearly demonstrates his competitive strength.
The opening race of the ISMF Ski Mountaineering World Cup 2014 was marked by heavy wintry conditions with fresh snow and bad weather. However, thanks to perfect preparation by their Swiss hosts, the world's top ski mountaineers were sent off on a fast, selective alpine route.
After a close, turbulent start, Jornet was able to take the lead and keep the other athletes at bay. Even with the pursuers close behind, he managed to finish with a small advantage and take the first gold medal of the season thanks to a good line and a lot of courage on the last descent.
Tomorrow Jornet will also compete in the Vertical Race, which is the final competition of the first World Cup event in Switzerland.
