Red Racers. While others are still whining about the new FIS regulations concerning sidecuts, ATOMIC has already started developing material for the world championships season 2012/2013. The first prototypes should be tested during future overseas snow trainings of some ATOMIC athletes in the next weeks.
“The FIS, in cooperation with us, the University of Salzburg and other manufacturers, has worked out new regulations concerning sidecuts. As one of numerous measures, this will hopefully help to make skiing more secure“, ATOMIC Racing Director Rudi Huber explains. “From now on, we will develop and test new material.“
Material pro Hans-Peter Haberstatter, who prepared the Red Racers of ATOMIC young star Marcel Hirscher last season and was also supervisor for slalom and giant slalom, now manages the development as Technical Coordinator, “Security is more than just lip service. We had to react to the ’trampoline effect’ caused by extreme sidecuts which weighed excessively on the athletes. The new FIS regulations will not be a problem for ATOMIC and our athletes. In contrast: there used to be similar regulations in the past and we managed them well back then and were the number 1. ATOMIC is known for its fast adaptation to innovations.“
OVERALL WORLD CUP, CRYSTAL GLOBES, CLASSICS
ATOMIC takes it all. For now, the ATOMIC crew concentrates on the season 2011/12, one without Olympic Games or World Championships. The Racing Director summarizes the expectations, “In 2011/12, we aim on winning the overall World Cup, crystal globes in different disciplines, and the classics. We will start into the season setting a standard right from the beginning: to be on top anytime.“ Even last season, when more ATOMIC athletes than usually suffered from injuries, ATOMIC was able to prove its leading position. Right now, preparations for all ATOMIC athletes are going extremely well, as well as hardly ever before: Carlo Janka, Benjamin Raich, Marcel Hirscher, Mario Scheiber, Kathrin Zettel and Eva-Maria Brem are all on the way back.
