ATOMIC DOMINATES THE SKI CLASSICS
Anders and Jørgen Aukland's joint victory in the final Ski Classics race in Sweden also meant first and second places in the overall standings for the Atomic athletes. Simen Østensen dominated the Ski Classics sprint. Together, the three Norwegians also won the team standings being all part of Team Xtra Personell. That couldn't possibly be beaten in the long distance!
At the Årefjällsloppet, the final Ski Classics race over 75 km, the Aukland brothers crossed the finish line hand in hand. It was an iconic image for the entire Long Distance season. The dominance of the Atomic athletes over the six-part Ski Classics series in figures: 940 points for Anders Aukland (40) and 840 for his brother Jørgen, who is three years younger - the competition followed more than 300 points behind. (28) won the sprint rankings with 155 points, 80 points ahead - the Norwegian finished sixth in the overall standings. Together, the three picked up 3129 points and made their Team Xtra personell win the team standings.
"It was a dream season for us" said Anders Aukland, who was able to successfully defend his 2012 Ski Classics title. "Thanks to all the Atomic team. We had the perfect skis whatever the conditions." The Aukland brothers recorded 5 victories with Atomic Worldcup Classic FL SDS skis, Worldcup Classic boots and SNS Propulse RC bindings. "With the Atomic Skintec we also have a high-performance waxless ski that saves a lot of time in training and is still super fast", explained Jørgen Aukland.
