World Cup 12/13, Kathrin, Marcel: podium for starts

Atomic World Cup opening. Successful World Cup opening in Sölden: Kathrin Zettel finished the first race of the season with 2nd place, Overall World Cup winner Marcel Hirscher finished third on the latest doubledeck generation Redster D2 GS and said, “Sölden was a successful start under exceptional conditions. And important feedback in regards to what we have to optimize in the next weeks.“

Wintry white as the ideal background to the racing red of the Atomic Redster Crew! World Cup opening 2012: difficult, but acceptable conditions. Marcel Hirscher’s analysis after the first race in his first season as overall World Cup winner, “Sölden gave us important feedback about the material and performance, a high tension had built up. It was good that the slope and sight were this difficult, the analysis of where we stand with the Redster D2 GS at the beginning of the season is even more valuable – and our position is very good.“ This 3rd place has been his best result in Sölden so far, “I owe this leap to the podium to the tuning flexibility of the new Redster boots: just one quick adaption of the boot and the setup for the combination of snowfall and an early start in the race was perfect. It’s cool how much development has taken place in very short time.“

Kathrin Zettel is used to top results in Sölden. Since 2005, her code of success expressed in her results has been: 4, 3, 1, 2, 7, 7, 2. She is also happy about the assessment of the Redster equipment, “In such a blind race, the material setup is key – and it was perfect for these conditions. I was positively surprised about 2nd place and I know there’s even more possible.“

After Sölden is before Levi. The World Cup slalom kick-off in Finland on 10 and 11 November is the next station of the World Cup. In contrast to last year, the winter has already started heavily there. A world premiere to come: In the far North, Marcel Hirscher will use the Icon Series that was designed by himself for the first time. “To participate in a race with a ski you helped develop and that has your branding: anyone who skies can image how amazing this is going to be. I can hardly wait for it.“
