THE RIGHT SKI IN ANY SITUATION - SCHILD WINS IN SOLDEU

Slalom victory number 33 for Marlies Schild, the sixth in this season - the ATOMIC queen continued her series at the World Cup debut in Andorra. ATOMIC colleague Kathrin Zettel finished on 3rd place, which was her second podium place this season. Kranjska Gora winner Michaela Kirchgasser ranked ninth, 16-year-old ATOMIC Kitten Mikaela Shiffrin finished on place 10.

Marlies Schild, with her famous smile on her face, carved to the victory in the dry snow of Andorra with best time in the second heat after ranking fifth in the first heat, “I managed the conditions a lot better. The right setup was the key.“ The ATOMIC RACE 158 SL proved once again that it was the right ski in any situation. ATOMIC ski-tech Rudi Berger, “We had to be very careful in tuning the edges – not too sharp, because to build up speed one had to race sensitively. Marlies gives very good feedback and together we are able to find the right setup for her terrific racing style.“

After slalom victory number 33 (a total of 35 World Cup victories), Marlies Schild still needs one more victory to catch up with Vreni Schneider, who leads the record ranking of all time with 34 slalom World Cup victories. Marlies Schild has now drawn level with her boyfriend Benjamin Raich, who has achieved 35 World Cup victories for ATOMIC so far.

Janka ranks fifth in the Olympics dress rehearsal
In Sochi, Russia, giant slalom Olympic champion Carlo Janka ranked fifth on the 3,495m long Olympic downhill slope. Despite his back problems, this was his second top-5 result after place 4 in Wengen. ATOMIC colleague Joachim Puchner finished sixth in the dress rehearsal two years before the Olympic Games.
